Scholarships Delivery Team

Flt Lt Charlotte Deschenes

I joined the RAF in May 2008 as a Flight Operations Assistant. In 2016 I applied for the JRPSS Scheme and was lucky enough to not only be awarded the scheme, but I was also awarded the Top Up hours. As a result of achieving a PPL, my confidence was high enough to apply to the RAF to become a Commissioned Officer. I am now serving as an Air Traffic Controller and continuing my studies towards achieving a Commercial Pilots License.

I am a Trustee for RAF Sport Aircraft and deliver all Social Media outputs. I am the Deputy Project Officer for the JO and JRPSS. As I am a product of this Scheme, I find it incredibly rewarding to be able to watch others grow from this experience and support the RAF in allowing individuals to fulfil their full potential.

Retd MACr Richard

Hi, I am Richard; After serving 37 years as aircrew, I retired from the RAF in 2013 with the rank of Master Aircrew. I have been involved in RAF recreational flying since 1978, initially as a glider pilot and instructor, then obtaining my PPL in 1985 to be a Tow pilot at the gliding club. I ‘retired’ from gliding in 1997. I joined the Moray Flying Club at its inception (The original in 1985) and have been involved in RAF flying clubs/schools ever since. I am a CRI(SE) with IR(R) and Night ratings, and I am the Manager at the Waddington Flying School. In total, across all forms of aviation, I have spent well over a year of my life airborne!

I am the administrator for the JR-JOPSS and Top-Up schemes, supporting the Project Officer with the financial transactions and tracking scholar progress. This project represents a fantastic opportunity to the scholars and I am proud to be associated with it.
